RAYSPOT Reusable Campfires

This product aligns with replenishment services like disposable cameras, printer cartridges, and propane gas tanks where the shell is recycled into new products and the internals are replaced. Let's call these types of products 'refillable shells'.

A study of existing refillable shells uncovered some striking, hopeful similarities:
1) the customer really only wants what the product provides, often what is 'inside' the refillable shell.
2) the refillable shell is simply a delivery method of a service or another product.
3) multiple customers are sharing one device, allowing a more sustainable model.
4) sharing products is a socially- and environmentally- friendly action.

Advocating for more products that shift towards the 'refillable shell' would therefore enforce the ideas of corporate responsibility and applied sustainability through sharing. Even car-sharing services like Zipcar or movie rental stores like Blockbuster, allow us to own less stuff.

Furthermore, by sharing one product among many people, a people-focused product is possible. When each person has their own product, it creates the opposite effect.

A campfire device was designed to provide a safe, sustainable, and socially-responsible device. The individual units would have a center spot of distribution also acting as its solar-powered recharge center.

When everyone owns their own product, an external view is created. Sharing products means less materiality waste and a people-centric existence.
The products are returned to the vending station at a local hardware store. The sales kiosk doubles as a solar recharging station.
