VIVA Studio / Industrial Designers Society of America

In collaboration with my dear friends and fellow designers Stephen Kennedy, Travis Ekmark, Michael Gluzman and Shelton Davis

Over a two-year period, the College of Architecture at Georgia Tech saw the rise of two important social movements.

The first was Viva Studio, 'a group of friends fascinated with seeing and doing things' relating to Art, Design, Architecture, and coffee in Atlanta. Led by Travis Ekmark, I helped propel Viva Studio as a participant, co-planner, and documenter of the events. During the 2 years of its existence, Viva Studio visited and toured over 25 creative firms, with attendance from over 100 students spanning architecture and design, inside and outside Georgia Tech.

The following year, the main proponents of Viva Studio were elected as board members of Georgia Tech's Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) Student Chapter. While in office, we planned and executed a 4-part portfolio building workshop featuring support from design professionals inside and outside Atlanta. Events were attended by staff and students from Georgia Tech, Auburn University, and SCAD Savannah. Enrollment raised from 25 members in the previous year to nearly 150 members.
